If it manages to do so, it will cross Rs 85 crore at the box-office! The movie managed an overall occupancy of over 60 per cent on day one, while the night shows enjoyed a spectacular 85 per cent occupancy. Another box-office tracking website Box Office Worldwide has predicted that the movie may mint over Rs 115 crore over the weekend if it can keep up the momentum! Bollywood superstar Salman Khan was all praise for the movie. "Dhai kilo ka haath equals chalis cr ki opening. Sunny paaji is killing it. Congrats to the entire team of Gadar 2," wrote the 'Dabangg' actor. Trade analyst Komal Nahta took to Twitter to gush about the movie. “Gadar 2’ is not a film, it’s a celebration, an emotion that touches the heart of every Indian. No wonder it’s ruling the box-office like no film has ruled after ‘Pathaan’ this year! Its opening is HISTORIC in many places! Await my detailed review. But if you may, watch the film even before that,” he wrote. In contrast, ‘OMG 2’, a social satire starring Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi, and Yami Gautam had a more modest opening day figure — Rs 9.50 crore.

Gold prices hovered near a one-month low on Friday and were heading for their third consecutive weekly dip, as the dollar and bond yields strengthened after data showed U.S. producer prices increased in July. Multilateral development banks (MDBs) are facing increasing demands from donor and borrowing countries to expand their lending operations beyond their core development mandates. An independent expert group, steered by finance commission chairman NK Singh and former US treasury secretary Lawrence Summers, formed to examine ways to strengthen MDBs has recommended tackling global challenges alongside core MDB missions of poverty reduction, tripling the sustainable lending level by 2030 and improving capital adequacy for MDBs by infusing funds.

Terming the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), a public sector initiative, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das said that it was not necessary that public goods could only be set up and financed by the public sector. “In this regard, it is worthwhile to build innovative design features which private investors find attractive in financing GPGs,” Das said while delivering closing remarks at a G20 Finance Track National Event organised by the Finance Ministry and the RBI. Keeping in mind very large investment requirements for setting up global public goods (GPGs), trigger financing could come from public investment, which would minimise risk and widen market access, Das said. “Subsequent financing needs can be met by the private sector. This is where international capital flows and movements assume importance,” he said. The central bank head said that multilateral development banks could act as catalysts for private sector investments through risk-sharing methods.

Glenmark Pharma on Friday reported an 18% year-on-year (YoY) drop in net profit to Rs 173 crore in Q1FY24. The company attributed the net profit drop to an exceptional item of Rs 52 crore in the quarter that comprises remediation cost of manufacturing sites in India and Monroe (US). Revenue from operations rose 22.5% YoY to Rs 3402 crore in Q1FY24.
