National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has hiked the toll charges by an average of 4-5% on tolled highway stretches across the country. The revised toll charges will be effective from April 1, 2025. Toll revision is an annual exercise and is linked to the changes in the wholesale price index based inflation. Every year, it is implemented from April 1. There are around 855 user fee plazas on national highway network on which user fee is levied as per National Highways Fee (Determination of Rates and Collection) Rules, 2008. Out of these, around 675 are public-funded fee plazas and 180 are concessionaire-operated toll plazas. The revised rates will affect the commuters of key routes across the country including Delhi-Meerut Expressway, Eastern Peripheral Expressway, Delhi-Jaipur highway among others. With average monthly collection of around Rs 6000 crore and 350 million monthly toll users, the NHAI is expected to garner nearly Rs 70,000 crore in toll collection in FY ’2024-25.

Supreme Court of India on Tuesday indicated that it would consider a petition filed by Ranveer Allahbadia, a popular YouTuber and entrepreneur, seeking the release of his passport. The top court, however, added that it would take up the matter after two weeks, in light of the ongoing investigation into the case. Allahbadia had approached the Supreme Court requesting a modification of the condition imposed on him, which required him to deposit his passport with authorities. His legal team argued that the condition was affecting his livelihood and professional commitments, as he frequently travels for business and work-related purposes. In response to Allahbadia’s plea, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta informed the apex court that the investigation in the case involving Allahbadia was likely to be completed within two weeks. He further stated that the authorities were actively working on the case, which has raised several concerns in the media.

The new Vande Bharat Express will cut down the travel time from the current 6-7 hours by road to just 3 hours. «The Vande Bharat Express train will cut the Katra-Srinagar journey to just 3 hours, compared to the current 6-7 hours by road. At present, train services run between Srinagar and Sangaldan in the valley. Once the railway line from Sangaldan to Katra becomes operational, these trains can be extended to Katra,» he said. The mission, SpaceX's sixth private astronaut flight, is the company's latest novel effort that expands its dominance in the global human spaceflight arena. It comes as Musk's power as SpaceX CEO and the world's richest man soars as he works as a close adviser to U.S. President Donald Trump, a role that has given him extraordinary influence for a businessman over an array of U.S. policy matters.

Prospective petitioners with selected beneficiaries have been notified and are now eligible to file H-1B cap-subject petitions. The status of each registration can be checked in the registrants’ online accounts, USCIS said in a statement. The filing period for FY 2026 H-1B cap-subject petitions begins on April 1, 2025. Only those with selected beneficiaries and a valid registration may submit petitions. Applications must be filed at the correct location or online through my.uscis.gov within the designated filing window, which will last at least 90 days.

Marco Rubio announced on Monday (local time) the imposition of visa restrictions on Chinese officials responsible for limiting the access of US officials to Tibetan areas. This move is in response to the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) long-standing refusal to allow US diplomats, journalists, and international observers into Tibet while Chinese officials enjoy unrestricted access to the United States. «Today, I am taking steps to impose additional visa restrictions on Chinese officials determined to be substantially involved in the formulation or execution of policies related to access for foreigners to Tibetan Areas, pursuant to the Reciprocal Access to Tibet Act of 2018,» Rubio said in a statement. «For far too long, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has refused to afford US diplomats, journalists, and other international observers access to the Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) and other Tibetan areas of China, while China's diplomats and journalists enjoy broad access in the United States. US diplomats are also unable to provide services to US citizens traveling in Tibet,» he added. Further, the US urged the CCP to immediately address this issue and allow diplomats and others unrestricted access to TAR.
