In addition to a surge in numbers on Mastodon, the acquisition and subsequent changes boosted small existing platforms like Hive Social and has spawned brand new upstarts like Spoutible and Spill. Most recently, the microblogging platform backed by Twitter founder Jack Dorsey, Bluesky, saw a surge of sign-ups in the days following Twitter’s rate limit, and Meta launched its microblogging platform Threads on July 5.

Meta will provide a one-off funding increase to its news offering in an attempt to crack down on misinformation in the lead up to the referendum over whether to introduce an Indigenous Voice to parliament.

Creativeland Asia Group is looking to create a multi-million-pound content fund in partnership with global investors, the company's founder, Sajan Raj Kurup, told ET. “We are looking to build a global content fund. The Creators Inc. acquisition will give the company access to directorial talent from British and American filmmakers like Guy Ritchie, Cary Joji Fukunaga, Philip Barantini, Colin Tilley, and Mark Osborne. The advertising firm, which closed FY23 with a top line of over Rs 130 crore, has acquired over 45 book titles and scripts in India, the UK, and the USA over the past three years.
