Delhi Metro on August 29 registered the highest-ever count of daily passenger journeys — 69.94 lakh — surpassing the record it set a day earlier. The corresponding figures on August 28 had stood at 68.16 lakh. Journey or line utilisation is calculated by the number of corridors passengers use to reach their destinations. «Delhi Metro's mission of providing a comfortable journey to its commuters is scaling new heights every day and as a result Delhi Metro once again set a new milestone on 29th August 2023 when more than 69 lakh passenger journeys were performed in the metro in a single day,» the DMRC said in a post on 'X', formerly known as Twitter. Before Monday, the highest passenger journey count was 66,18,717, recorded on February 10, 2020, just before the pandemic disrupted travel patterns and routines. Of the total journeys recorded Tuesday, the Red Line accounted for 7,65,059 journeys, Yellow Line — 19,11,239, Blue Line — 14,90,171, and Airport Express Line — 61,041, among other corridors, according to data shared by the DMRC.

HD Kumaraswamy was hospitalised in Bengaluru on Wednesday morning after he suffered a mild stroke. He, however, recovered at the hospital and is stable now. The Apollo Hospital in Jayanagar said he would be shifted to the ward on Thursday and discharged after two or three days. NEW DELHI : In a relief to consumers, the Union government on Tuesday cut the price of a 14.2-kilogramme (kg) cooking gas cylinder by ₹200, terming it a gift for women ahead of the Raksha Bandhan this week. The move comes as the central government faces growing criticism over rising inflation and its impact on households. “On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan and Onam, the government has decided to reduce the price of domestic cylinders by ₹200," said information and broadcasting minister Anurag Thakur.

Additionally, users under the PM Ujjwala scheme will benefit from this subsidy on top of the existing one.» Minister Thakur also stated that this extra LPG cylinder subsidy would be implemented immediately, offering it as a special gift for Raksha Bandhan and Onam celebrations. This move now brings the subsidy for Ujjwala beneficiaries to a total of Rs 400 per LPG cylinder. Currently, in the national capital, a 14.2-kg LPG cylinder costs ₹1,103, more than double the rate it had in May 2020.
