Lawyers must study AI, data analysis to tap huge opportunities awaiting them: SC judge
Artificial Intelligence, proportionality and data analysis to take advantage, Supreme Court judge Sanjiv Khanna said here on Monday. Addressing the third convocation of the Maharashtra National Law University Aurangabad, he said there are 5.5 crore cases pending in courts across the country, including 83,000 in the Supreme Court. «There are 1700 law colleges. Around 1 lakh advocates get enrolled every year. There are about 15 lakh advocates enrolled by the bar council. Advocates not only need to argue these cases but also have to man the courts as judges and members of tribunals. Hence, there is huge opportunity waiting for you,» Justice Khanna said. «Emerging areas like technology and artificial intelligence, data creation and data analysis, proportionality are important for legislative and executive policy as well as judicial determination,» he said, adding law cannot be understood in isolation and would need interdisciplinary study. The legal profession is not a business but one that demands integrity, perseverance and a deep sense of responsibility, with the main aim being to maintain ethics, honour and dignity, he asserted.

Investors need to lower their return expectations: Amit Ganatra of Invesco Mutual Fund
This is because in the current environment, where the earnings growth is moderating incrementally, the scope for PE rerating is limited, Amit Ganatra, Head of Equities, Invesco Mutual Fund tells ET Wealth. How are you reading the current market scenario? Is the buoyancy likely to persist on the back of expected interest rate cuts? Market conditions have to be evaluated on the basis of macro outlook and earnings outlook. India’s macro outlook has strengthened in the past few years due to an improvement in the fiscal and current account deficits, and health of balance sheets in the corporate and banking sectors. This has happened at a time when the overall macro conditions for many large economies in the world are either deteriorating or, at best, remain steady. So, in that context, India is demonstrating macro outperformance to the rest of the world.

One who is generous, shows goodwill is a Hindu regardless of religious beliefs, caste: RSS chief
RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday said being Hindu means to be generous and show goodwill to everyone, regardless of their religious beliefs, caste or dietary practices. While addressing RSS workers in Alwar, he said the Hindu society is the «karta-dharta» of the country. «If something goes wrong in this nation, then it affects the Hindu society because it is the karta-dharta of the nation but if anything good happens in the country, it adds to the glory of Hindus,» he said. Bhagwat explained that what is commonly referred to as the Hindu religion is, in essence, a universal human religion.

Kamala Harris reveals gun ownership in debate with Donald Trump: Here's what it means for her stance on gun control
Kamala Harris revealed that she owns a handgun for personal safety. This disclosure, which came as a strategic response to Republican criticisms, highlights her effort to navigate the complex landscape of American gun politics. According to a White House source, Harris’s gun is securely stored at her California home. During the debate, Harris addressed Republican accusations with the statement: “This business about taking everyone's guns away — Tim Walz and I are both gun owners. We're not taking anybody's guns away, so stop with the continuous lying about this stuff.” She also recalled her personal reasons for owning a gun, saying in 2019, “I am a gun owner, and I own a gun for probably the reason a lot of people do — for personal safety. I was a career prosecutor.”

Only a BJP government can give full statehood to J&K: PM Modi
Modi launched the BJP campaign in Jammu and Kashmir with an attack on the “three (political) families)” of Congress, National Conference and PDP, alleging they jointly destroyed the state for decades to serve their own selfish interests by promoting corruption, separatism and terrorism. He assured the voters that the status of full statehood to the union territory will be granted by a BJP government. Addressing a rally in Doda, Udhampur on Saturday, the prime minister charged that these three parties want to restore Article 370 that gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir. The clause had deprived several sections of the society from benefits like reservation and welfare schemes of the Centre. “These Assembly elections are between three (political) families and the youth of Jammu and Kashmir. On one side are the three families and on the other are the sons and daughters who have set out with big dreams. One family is of the Congress (Nehru-Gandhis), one of NC (Abdullahs) and one of PDP (Muftis). What these three families have jointly done to you is not less than any sin. These three families are responsible for destroying the state through decades,” Modi said.
