India's Russian oil imports rise to nine-month high in April
India's Russian oil imports rose a nine-month high in April after shipments on non-sanctioned tankers operated by Russia's largest shipping company Sovcomflot resumed, tanker data obtained from shipping and trade sources showed. Refiners in India briefly stopped importing Russian oil in tankers belonging to Sovcomflot after the company's ships, along with its 14 tankers, were designated by Washington in February as being in breach of Western sanctions. The West has imposed the sanctions against Russia since it invaded Ukraine in 2022 and has enacted price caps on oil and oil products loaded at Russian ports aimed at cutting Moscow's oil revenue that funds the war.

PM Modi should quit public life for indulging in Hindu-Muslim rhetoric: Mallikarjun Kharge
public life for indulging in Hindu-Muslim rhetoric everyday and «fostering hatred» in society, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has said. In an interview to PTI, Kharge alleged PM Modi's intentions are not clean as he is giving daily "hate speeches" with Hindu-Muslim rhetoric during the poll campaign. Noting that the PM talks about «taking away buffaloes» and «giving 15 percent budget to Muslims», Kharge said, «By saying such things, he is himself creating division in society». «On the other hand he claims that he has no right to be in public life if he talks Hindu-Muslim. As you talk such things everyday, you should quit public life,» the Congress president said.

Why power stocks are a healthy combination of high growth and reasonable valuations
energy demand, and a move towards renewable energy sources are driving a dramatic transformation of the Indian power sector. Both domestic and foreign investors may find lucrative investment opportunities in this sector. India's power consumption is expected to almost double due to urbanization, economic growth, and rising per capita income by 2040. India's growth trajectory is attracting investments across the value chain, positioning the country as a major player in the global energy markets, in our view.

IPL Eliminator: Rajasthan Royals desperate to arrest slide against Royal Challengers Bengaluru
Sanju Samson's Rajasthan Royals will face a stern test of character as they look to arrest a shocking slide in a do-or-die IPL Eliminator against an in-form Royal Challengers Bengaluru, here on Wednesday. The Royals, at one stage, had looked set for a top-place finish in the league stage before a string of four defeats and a washout in the last game against KKR resulted in Sanju Samson's side finishing third behind Sunrisers Hyderabad. On the other hand, RCB have sensationally fought their way back from the brink of elimination. After losing seven of their first eight games this season, the team led by Faf du Plessis hit a dream run and finally knocked out defending champions Chennai Super Kings a few nights ago to seal a playoffs berth. If Rajasthan Royals are coming off four losses and a rained-off game, RCB have notched up six consecutive wins to sound a warning to their rivals that they mean business in the playoffs.

"Nobody gives you discount for age...": MS Dhoni opens up on playing competitive cricket following international retirement
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni said that even though he does not play cricket throughout the year, there is no «discount for age» when he plays in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The 42-year-old Dhoni played for CSK in the ongoing IPL 2024, under the leadership of Ruturaj Gaikwad, to whom he handed over the captaincy ahead of this season. His team crashed out of the playoffs race after a loss to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Saturday. CSK finished at the fifth spot with seven wins, seven losses and 14 points and crashed out of the final four race due to an inferior net run rate. Speaking in a video on Dubai Eye 103.8 YouTube channel on Monday, Dhoni said, «The toughest thing is… I am not playing cricket throughout the year. So I have to be fit. Once I come, you are competing against youngsters who are fit and playing international cricket. Professional sport is not easy, nobody gives you a discount for age. If you want to play, you have to be as fit as the other guy. Age does not really give that grace to you. So, eating habits, a bit of training and all those things are there. Social media, thankfully, I am not on social media, so there's less distraction.»

University of California academic workers strike to stand up for pro-Palestinian protesters
Graduate students at the University of California, Santa Cruz walked off their jobs and went on strike Monday, the first campus to do so as part of a systemwide protest against a public university they say has violated the speech rights of pro-Palestinian advocates. United Auto Workers Local 4811 represents 48,000 graduate students who work as teaching assistants, tutors, researchers and other academic employees on the 10-campus UC system. Organizers said the campuses will not strike all at once, opting instead for rolling strikes, to protest the arrests and forcible ejection by police of union members who participated in demonstrations calling for an end to the war in Gaza.
