Prajwal and his father H D Revanna, former Karnataka minister, were booked by police on Sunday on charges of sexual harassment and criminal intimidation based on a complaint from a woman, who worked in their household. Prajwal is the grandson of former prime minister H D Deve Gowda and nephew of Karnataka former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy. Faced with unrelenting attack from the Congress and other political parties, the JD(S), an ally of the BJP, suspended Prajwal.

Airtel Payments Bank CEO Anubrata Biswas is optimistic that the payments bank momentum in India will yield strong growth horizons and opportunities in the coming years, supported by financial inclusion imperatives and rapid pace of economic and digital growth. In an interview to PTI, Biswas said FY24 has been a «remarkable year» for Airtel Payments Bank, which has been growing in double digits across all key metrics such as users, revenue, and profits. «We are still closing the books (for the fiscal) but as we stand today, we are going to see high double-digit growth rates on revenue, profit and users continue,» he said. BENGALURU : Maiva Pharma, a Bengaluru-based injectables manufacturer, has secured ₹1,000 crore in a mix of primary and secondary funding from a fund managed by Morgan Stanley Private Equity Asia and India Life Sciences Fund-IV, led by InvAscent, to set up a new manufacturing plant near Hosur, Tamil Nadu. The fund has acquired a controlling stake with the capital infusion, making it Maiva Pharma’s first private equity fundraise.

Maiva Pharma, the Benguluru based pure play injectables Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) catering to US market, has raised Rs 1,000 crores in primary and secondary funding from a fund managed by Morgan Stanley Private Equity Asia and India Life Sciences Fund — IV (InvAscent), for a controlling stake from existing investors and infused primary capital in the company. Morgan Stanley PE Asia and India Life Sciences Fund are investing almost equally, total stake with both funds combined will be over 60% post primary investment, the company told ET. This is Maiva’s first private equity fundraise. Few existing high networth individual (HNI) investors will be exiting.

Neelkanth Mishra, Chief Economist, Axis Bank & Head of Global Research, Axis Capital, says “in the next three to five years in this same style, we could see very aggressive capex and industrial policy coming in from China and the return on assets, on capital intensive assets in China is already back to 2002 levels. It is quite possible it keeps falling. Imagine then what other countries have to do. Do we have policies to counter that? We need not get overly protectionist, but we need to be very agile in responding to this.
