Conagra's agro tech stake sale at discount raises eyebrows
Conagra Brands' sale of a 51.8% stake in Agro Tech Foods at a 48% discount to the market price and the subsequent mandatory open offer at a 43% discount to Thursday's closing price have raised eyebrows on Dalal Street. Market participants were surprised by this move, likening the decision to suggest that certain midcap stocks are either significantly overvalued or face underlying hidden challenges. On Thursday, Conagra announced the sale of a 51.8% stake in Agro Tech at ₹515 per share, despite the market price being above ₹1,000 apiece. The mandatory open offer of 26% to the public shareholders was set at ₹578 apiece, representing a discount of 43% from Thursday's closing price and a discount of 17% from the average price of the stock over the past year. The stock locked in a 20% lower circuit on Friday to close at ₹804.15.

Weather Update: Delhi-NCR receives light rain, IMD warns of thunderstorms and hail
Delhi-NCR (National Capital Region) woke up to light rain on Saturday morning, attributed to a western disturbance, leading to a dip in minimum temperatures. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had predicted rain for both Friday and Saturday. «There is an active western disturbance which will impact the region. From Friday, March 1 night onwards there would be light weather activity with very light rain. However, the major impact is likely on Mar 2 with the possibility of thunderstorm, strong winds and light to moderate rain. From Mar 3 onwards, the effect will wear off. The minimum temperature may thus rise due to cloudiness; however, it will significantly drop around March 2,» said Kuldeep Srivastava, senior scientist at India Meteorological Department (IMD). Delhiites witnessed a light drizzle on Saturday morning, with the sunrise obscured by dark clouds. The IMD forecasted light to moderate rain throughout the day, with certain areas likely to experience hailstorms. An orange alert has been issued for the city, urging residents to stay updated with the weather forecast.

WTO MC13 ends without public stockholding, fish sops decision
WTO ended here without any decision on permanent solution for public stockholding of food, and members’ inability to reach a consensus on fishery subsidies. However, the WTO extended the moratorium on ecommerce transmissions by two years. The MC13 was supposed to end on February 29 but was extended by a day as countries failed to reach common ground on food security issue, India’s key demand. The meeting of the highest decision making body of the WTO entered the fifth day on Friday with key members including India, the US and EU holding talks to iron out differences on issues such as agriculture, fisheries subsidies, WTO reforms and duty moratorium on e-commerce trade.

Discom: A race for power even before the elections
NEW DELHI : Power distribution companies across the country are scrambling to procure more electricity than they usually do for summers, with hotter-than-normal temperatures expected until May this year coinciding with the national election. On Friday, the India Meteorological Department forecast ‘above normal’ maximum temperatures in most parts of the country until May.
