How China is doubling down on trade-ins to boost sluggish consumption
China pledged on Sunday to «vigorously boost consumption» and «expand domestic demand in all directions» as they seek to cushion the impact of weak external demand amid an escalating global trade war. While they did not release detailed plans and budgets for most of the measures, one exception was a consumer trade-in scheme — a Chinese version of a «cash for clunkers» programme, with officials announcing a considerable expansion of subsidies and the categories of products covered. WHAT PRODUCTS ARE COVERED BY TRADE-INS? Initially, China's government announced subsidies for eight household products — refrigerators, washing machines, televisions, air conditioners, computers, water heaters, domestic stoves and hoods for range cookers. Purchasers of these products are eligible for subsidies equivalent to 15%-20% of their sales price, capped at 2,000 yuan ($276) for each item.

Tariffs might not happen but tequila is already paying the price
Donald Trump's tariffs on Mexico are not imposed, the threats and uncertainty caused by on and off-again levies have already cost the tequila sector money and could drive a temporary slowdown in sales, producers, investors and analysts told Reuters. The 25% tariffs, initially due to be applied from February and briefly in place on March 4 before being suspended on both occasions, threatened billions of dollars of imports from huge producers like Diageo and Becle alone. They prompted businesses and consumers to stockpile tequila, which can only be made in Mexico, freeze expansion plans and divert resources elsewhere. Some producers, restaurants and drinkers accumulated hefty tequila stock, sometimes of up to six months — a bet which will pay off if tariffs are imposed. But producers say this also has a cost, hurting the sector even if the tariffs are rolled back. «No matter what happens… a price has been paid,» said Mike Novy, chief executive officer of Calabasas Beverage Company, which operates the tequila brand founded by Kendall Jenner, 818 Tequila.

Tata Motors to hike commercial vehicle prices up to 2% starting 1st April, 2025
Tata Motors announced on Monday a price increase of up to 2% across its entire commercial vehicle range, effective from 1st April 2025. The decision comes as a response to the rising input costs, which have been affecting the automotive industry globally. Digital lifestyles, work pressures impacting sleeping patterns: Survey
Great Indian Sleep Scorecard (GISS) 2025 survey by D2C sleep and home solutions company Wakefit. Indian women tend to have more irregular sleeping patterns. Nearly six in ten (59%) sleep past 11 pm, with half waking up feeling fatigued, compared to 42% of men. While 9% of men report waking up three or more times every night, the figure stands at 13% for women. The survey covered 4,500 responses across India between March 2024 and February 2025. It is aimed at highlighting shifting sleep behaviours and their potential repercussions on daily life. The survey found digital habits are having a direct bearing on sleep. More than eight in ten (84%) respondents use their phones just before going to bed, leading to fragmented rest and delayed sleep onset. More than half (51%) pit the blame of their sleepless nights on binge-watching and late-night scrolling, leading to nearly six in ten feeling sleepy at work. With nine in ten respondents, phone usage before bedtime is most prevalent among the 25-30 age cohort.

Prashant Thakur predicts strong demand for both redevelopment and greenfield projects
«If you look at Mumbai, the entire city was dug up a couple of years back and we are seeing that all these infrastructure projects that started are seeing day of the light and that is why we are seeing a flurry of activity in the peripheral areas, where a huge amount of development are coming up, thanks to the connectivity,» says Prashant Thakur, Anarock Group. Let me firstly ask about Mumbai because that particular market and the region has seen a lot of redevelopment activity, especially if you talk about prime areas like Worli. And not just Worli, let us talk about the suburbs as well, there is constant redevelopment day in and day out. If you could help us understand what is exactly driving this transformation, how do you see this impacting the overall real estate trends in the city? Prashant Thakur: First of all, if you talk about Mumbai, or let us say MMR as a whole, it accounts for 45% to almost 48% of value of real estate sold across the top seven cities in the country. So, undoubtedly, it is kind of powerhouse when it comes to residential sales. And there are several factors apart from being the financial capital of India, the huge amount of job opportunity it generates, it has also seen a huge amount of infrastructure upgrade.

According to her, the Railways was the only one in the race and it still stands at the runners up position and not the top. She wondered whether the Railways like all profit making public entities would also land up with the «friends» (mitra) of the ruling dispensation. Gaikwad alleged that the rail kavach developed to prevent accidents was being used by the minister to protect himself and not passengers and the trains. She said he continues in office despite a series of accidents under his watch.

2 top stock recommendations from Aditya Arora
«So, the bias is positive and the breakout on the index will happen above 22,750 on Nifty on the upside and on the downside the texture could deteriorate only if we break 22,100,» says Aditya Arora, Adlytick. Nifty has been sideways for the last five to six consecutive sessions. When are we going to really pick up a trend? Aditya Arora: The market is consolidating with positive bias. Although market is consolidating in a tight range of 22,200 to 22,700, but a lot of midcaps and smallcaps are doing well. A lot of sectors are coming out of that beaten down space where every day it was a red day, but now we see green days.
