Popular mid-cap funds struggle to keep pace with runaway benchmark
Nifty 150 Midcap index. Analysts and investment advisors say the inability to deploy the continuous flows into these schemes and increased exposure to blue chips, with valuations of mid-cap stocks remaining elevated, have led to the underperformance. Data from Value research show that the actively-managed mid-cap fund category has generated an average return of 25.36% against the Nifty 150 Midcap index return of 27.08% over three years. «With high inflows into mid-cap stocks over the last few years, market efficiency within mid-caps have improved a lot. This means that there is less room for active managers to find mispriced stocks and generate alpha,» says Kunal Valia, founder, Statlane, an investment advisory firm.

Of grit and determination: Neither disability, nor deadly disease could keep these athletes away from sports
Paris Paralympic is an inspiration. As they start their campaign today, a look at some of the stories: 1. Manoj Sarkar, who suffers from a lower limb condition due to wrongful medical treatment in childhood, grew up in a family that struggled to make ends meet, making it difficult to support his sports training. His mother worked in a factory, and with the meagre earning, encouraged young Manoj to take up the sport. When it became impossible for her to continue, Manoj stepped up himself and started painting houses. It helped him earn some much-needed money and, with the stroke of the paintbrush being similar to those in badminton, allowed him to polish his skills. 2.Deepthi Jivanji is intellectually impaired and finds it difficult to comprehend things. Her coaches need to explain things to her as if she were still a child. But when she is on the track, she gets it all. Many believe she is a sure gold medal favourite and may even break a record. However, the celebration will be different as she may not fully understand the magnitude of her achievement.

Knockout suit: Trump to sell pieces of suit he wore to knock Joe Biden out in Presidential debate
Donald Trump is offering a piece of presidential history and is asking for less than $1,500 for pieces of the knockout suit he wore during the debate. Trump is giving his digital card collectors a prize by chopping up the suit he wore to the debate with Biden. Despite having switched to politics, Donald Trump is reminding his supporters of his background as a businessman with his most recent sale. The debate signalled the beginning of a string of unexpected events in the 2024 presidential election. The Republican contender for president announced to his fans that he was releasing a new deck of trading cards and that anyone who paid $1,500 for them would get to keep a piece of his suit. Fifty brand-new digital trading cards with images of Trump posing in superhero outfits and dancing are part of the collection. In some of the cards, he is also seen holding Bitcoins. Those who purchase one of his digital trading cards will receive benefits at various levels. If 15 digital cards are purchased, a physical card and a fragment of Trump's suit from his June debate with President Joe Biden will be mailed to the buyer. It's being referred to as the knock-out suit. Supporters will need to spend a total of $1,485 on digital trading cards, each costing $99 to obtain the actual card and a fragment of Trump's suit.
