Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited the flood affected Bankuwal at Bokakhat sub-division in Golaghat district and inspected the breach point of the area in Bokakhat sub-division. Sarma took a boat journey to reach out to the area at Bankuwal where the current flood breached a point of an embankment. As a result of the breach around 72 villages got affected. Sarma talked to the flood affected people taking shelter on the embankment and took note of the flood induced damage. Meanwhile, Sarma also visited the temporary relief camp set up at Kamargaon Higher Secondary school and took stock of the relief materials including facilities being provided to the camp inmates. He also enquired about the medical facilities, safe drinking water and baby food being given to the inmates in the camp. While talking to the flood affected people, he assured them of all possible help from the government. The Chief Minister also said that once the flood water recedes, the breach point will be repaired using latest technology and action will be taken to facilitate the flood victims' early return to their respective homes. Calcutta High Court will hear on Monday an application for interim order by West Bengal Governor C V Ananda Bose in a defamation suit filed by him against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and some other TMC leaders over alleged comments made by her. Justice Krishna Rao on Wednesday granted leave for the defamation plaint to be registered before his court. He directed that Bose's application for an interim order, for a direction upon Banerjee and the others not to make any further comment on the issue under contention, will be taken up for hearing on Monday. Justice Rao also directed Bose's lawyer to serve copies of the application to the defendants in the suit in the meantime.

As much as 86% of 5,562 professionals who responded to a survey put together by job portal Naukri.com for ET said they would be actively looking out for new jobs now that appraisals were over. About 39% of the respondents said their appraisals had been worse than last year, while they were similar for 33% and better for the balance 28%. People have chosen to remain where they were as the job market was muted in several sectors with employers exercising caution in hiring decisions fearing cost escalation, said Arvind Usretay, regional client manager – Asia at HR consultancy Mercer. “When such a phenomenon occurs, it bottles up the regular churn in the market, leading to ‘waves’ of sorts (when the job market revives),” he said. “The last time we witnessed such a frenzy was about 24 months ago.”
