50% of revenue expected from our overseas business: Rajneesh Chopra, VA Tech Wabag
«Now going forward, our endeavour will be definitely to look at how do we increase our overseas order intake. And as you mentioned, one of the key areas geographically is Middle East and Africa where we are targeting,» says Rajneesh Chopra, VA Tech Wabag. There are some announcements, of course, big ones, India-Middle East in their recent meets. I want to understand from you, from a company standpoint, what kind of revenue potential or what kind of order potential are you expecting on the back of these tie-ups for say water-infra-related orders?See, as you said, the outlook for the water sector per se has been pretty good, both in India as well as overseas. If you particularly talk about VA Tech, I think we are at all-time high order backlog and we have a good mix of India as well as overseas orders. One of the key orders which in recent past you have seen is 400 MLD desalination plant in India and a major breakthrough in Bangladesh for a wastewater treatment plant. Now going forward, our endeavour will be definitely to look at how do we increase our overseas order intake. And as you mentioned, one of the key areas geographically is Middle East and Africa where we are targeting.

Singapore-born economist Tharman will be sworn in as the ninth president of the city-state on Thursday, days after he was overwhelmingly elected as the ninth head of state of the country. The 66-year-old President-elect won 70.4 per cent of the 2.48 million ballots cast by voters on September 1, while his Chinese-origin rivals Ng Kok Song and Tan Kin Lian received 15.72 per cent and 13.88 per cent respectively. Wipro aims to be among top three companies in lighting industry by FY25-end
Wipro Consumer Care & Lighting is aiming to be among the top three companies in the lighting segment by FY2024-25-end, growing faster than the industry average despite challenges related to inflation and low rural consumer demand, a company official said. The company, part of Wipro Enterprises, entered into the home appliances segment more than a year ago, with the launch of the products into the mid to premium segment. Currently, its appliances are an online exclusive brand, available on e-commerce channels, however, it has plans to go offline also, said Sanjay Gupta, Senior Vice President, Consumer Lighting & Switches at Wipro Consumer Care & Lighting. In FY 2022-23, Wipro's Lighting business achieved a remarkable double-digit growth, crossing Rs 1,000 crore revenue. When asked about the growth, Gupta told PTI: «Moving forward, we are confident in our ability to outpace industry growth rates, despite encountering some demand-side challenges in the B2C Lighting segment.» «To sustain this momentum, we have established ambitious growth targets, aiming to secure a spot among the top three players in the Lighting industry by the close of the fiscal year 2025,» he added. Wipro's lighting business is divided into two segments B2C and B2B — contributing 60 and 40 per cent, respectively — in the top line. According to Gupta, there has been a slowdown in the demand for the last one year in the B2C business because of inflation and other factors. «However B2B business is doing very well because of the new infrastructure projects.

How to know the flat you are buying is not on encroached land, lake or riverbed
In the excitement of homebuying, buyers often fail to do a proper background check on the property. This also happens when builders or brokers quote a lucrative offer and buyers get so overwhelmed by the price factor that they don’t even feel the need to do any background check. However, such negligence can prove costly for homebuyers in future.
