Mahindra group may join hands with global players for cell production in India: MD Anish Shah
Mahindra Group is looking for partnerships with global players for local production of battery cells in order to cater to expected increase in demand for electric vehicles in the future, according to a top company executive. In an interaction with PTI, Mahindra Group MD and CEO Anish Shah said the company is looking at a 2030 timeframe for the possible listing of its electric vehicle arm Mahindra Electric Automobile Ltd (MEAL). «One area that we continue to look at more closely is cell manufacturing and that is something where there are various considerations… if we feel it's essential for us, we will look at a partnership for cell manufacturing,» he stated. He further said: «We will look at a global technology partner, and potentially at private equity partners as well because we will not put the entire capital.» The initiative, if it materialises, would enable local production of battery cells in India, Shah said.

VC funds, angel investors seek safeguards in spousal partnerships
Venture capital (VC) funds and angel investors have started to seek more clarity from cofounders, who are also spouses, about their roles, responsibilities and any special rights given to either of them at the time of the company’s inception. In several instances, founders often name their spouses as cofounders at the time of the inception of their venture. However, if the spouses choose to part ways after a few rounds of funding, at that time, dealing with that separation becomes messy for investors as they have to deal with disgruntled spouses who are also shareholders of companies.

As Indians acquire healthier tastes, food companies pack it in
low-salt, low-sugar and nutrition-fortified packaged food with sales of such products having risen in the last five years, according to the latest data from companies, market researchers and the government. This reflects an uptick in healthy eating trends as well as packaged food companies working on improving taste, the reason why sales of such items had failed to gain traction initially. Data show urban India is leading the shift toward healthier food, even though it has also picked up pace in rural areas, where household expenditure on staples such as salt, sugar and edible oil has come down. High levels of sugar, salt and fat in processed goods are seen as a concern amid rising diabetes, obesity and cardiac issues in India and elsewhere. PepsiCo's bottling and distribution company Varun Beverages told analysts last month that 46% of its consolidated sales volumes comes from low-sugar or no-sugar products, which aligns with consumer trends.

Will World War 3 begin next week as predicted by 'new Nostradamus'? Who is he? Know what real Nostradamus has said
World War 3 begin next week? A week after observing the 80th anniversary of D-Day when the Allied forces had landed at Normandy in World War 2, will another internecine war erupt soon? This question looms over world leaders, defense experts, historians as well as astrologers. All eyes are set on Indian astronomer Kushal Kumar, who predicted the beginning of Word War 3 on June 18, 2024. Dubbed as 'new Nostradamus', he told the 'Daily Star', «NOW, Tuesday, 18 June 2024 has the strongest planetary stimulus to trigger WW3.» Earlier, he predicted the death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, who died in a helicopter crash last month. In a post on 'The Medium', Kumar, cited a recent terror attack on Hindu pilgrims in the Indian administered state of Kashmir. He has also talked about the shots fired at the Demilitarized Zone between North and South Korea. The 'new Nostradamus' has also talked about the escalation of tension and conflict between Israel and the Islamist militant organization Hezbollah, after the Lebanon-based outfit fired rockets at the Jewish state.

Delhi water crisis: AAP govt urges Haryana to discharge water on humanitarian grounds
Haryana to discharge additional water into the Yamuna on humanitarian grounds, senior AAP leader and minister Atishi said on Saturday. Delhi's water minister also told a press conference here that the capital is facing a shortage of 70 million gallons per day (MGD) in production due to lack of raw water in the Munak canal and Wazirabad reservoir. The normal water production of around 1,002 MGD in Delhi went down to 932 MGD on Friday because of lack of raw water, she said. «The Delhi government has appealed to Haryana to release additional water for the people of the city on humanitarian grounds,» the minister said and added that issues related to share of Yamuna water can be discussed after heatwave conditions abate.

Groupings within Pakistan team was also a factor in disastrous T20 World Cup campaign: Sources
T20 World Cup is being blamed on «groupings» within the team and non-performance of senior players during critical moments and it could lead to «major changes» not just in the team but also in the PCB. According to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) sources, the biggest challenge before Babar Azam on his comeback as captain was to unite the team but he could not do so because of the groupings. Shaheen Shah Afridi upset at losing the captaincy and Babar not supporting him when required while Muhammad Rizwan was unhappy at not being considered for the captaincy. «There are three groups in the team, one led by Babar Azam, the second one by Shaheen Shaheen Afridi and the third one by Muhammad Rizwan. Add to this mix the return of seniors like Muhammad Aamir and Imad Wasim and the recipe was ready for a World Cup disaster,» a source close to the team told PTI.
