Tripura CPI-M boycotts assembly over Speaker’s ‘partisan’ stance, Minister’s ‘racist’ remark
CPI-M announced that they would boycott the remaining days of the ongoing Budget session of the Tripura Assembly to protest Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen's alleged «partisan behaviour». The opposition CPI-M members walkout from the House over the «racist» remarks against Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Jitendra Chaudhury by state Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ratan Lal Nath. The LoP moved a privilege motion against Minister Nath on Tuesday. However, the Speaker rejected the motion on Wednesday, saying that one privilege motion against CPI-M's Tripura mouthpiece 'Daily Desher Kath' was accepted, and as per the rule, two privilege motions cannot be accepted on the same day. The privilege motion against 'Daily Desher Kath' was moved by Minister Nath. During the Zero Hour, when the Speaker announced that he rejected the privilege motion moved by the LoP against Minister Nath, the opposition CPI-M members protested, leading to pandemonium in the House.

Ashok Leyland says may shut loss-making e-bus plant in UK
Ashok Leyland said on Wednesday that its electric bus unit Switch Mobility could shutter one of its British plants, which would swing the unit's UK operations to profitability «soon». The company said it would review the feasibility of the plant in Sherburn, North Yorkshire in a consultation process with employees, which could lead to the plant being closed, amid continued uncertainty in the sector. The plant accounted for 0.60% of Ashok Leyland's total sales in the fiscal year ended March 2023, the company said.

Trump may implement copper import tariffs ahead of deadline
copper imports could be coming within several weeks, months earlier than the deadline for a decision, according to people familiar with the matter. Copper traded in New York rose to a record. US President Donald Trump in February directed the Commerce Department to open an investigation into potential copper tariffs and submit a report within 270 days, though it’s now expected to be resolved sooner, said the people who asked not to be identified because the discussions are confidential. The investigation already is looking like little more than a formality, some of the people said, with Trump having regularly said he plans to impose the tariffs. The administration is proceeding expeditiously with the review, and a conclusion could be possible well before the 270-day deadline, an official familiar with the process said, speaking on condition of anonymity. The White House declined to comment. In February, Peter Navarro, a White House trade adviser, said the investigation would proceed quickly.

Jeremy Clarkson takes swipe at Elon Musk Tesla’s declining sales, calls him ‘idiot’
Jeremy Clarkson has taken aim at Tesla CEO Elon Musk. The Top Gear host had just one word to say on the problems Tesla has been facing recently. Clarkson called Elon Musk an «idiot» and attributed the backlash against Tesla as «payback.» In 2008, Clarkson gave a harsh evaluation of the Tesla Roadster on BBC’s Top Gear viewers, starting a feud with Elon Musk. A BBC segment depicted the vehicle experiencing brake issues at 55 miles. The review led Elon Musk to file a lawsuit against the BBC. The legal proceedings did not change Clarkson's point of view regarding the vehicle.

We spy with our li'l eye DOGE rejects
Elon Musk's undodgeable firing range DOGE may already have witnessed a firing spree, with thousands of government employees out of a job overnight. But with many of them being repositories and carriers of sensitive information and US government system knowledge, headhunters not so much from Borneo but places like China and Russia could do well to go on a hiring spree. Forget those good old days of campus placements. Think of older days when KGB went to Oxbridge — and, indeed, CIA and MI6 went liaising with Soviet embassy staffers in parks — looking for disgruntled bright sparks unhappy with their country's system. Patriotism, after all, is a roti flip away from serving a cause and salary, especially when your old workplace has spat you out. LinkedIn bios should already be switching from 'National Security Strategist' to 'Spy-for-Hire: Will Work for Renminbis'.

US Recession red flags everywhere: How to survive the economic storm before it's too late
Yet, a recession never came. Optimism grew that the US might pull off a “soft landing.” Now, those hopes are fading. Consumer expectations have plummeted to their lowest level since 2013, according to The Conference Board. Its senior economist, Stephanie Guichard, warned: “Consumers’ expectations were especially gloomy, with pessimism about future business conditions deepening.” Meanwhile, a March CNBC Fed Survey puts the probability of a US recession at 36%, up from 23% in January. J.P. Morgan’s chief economist estimates the odds at 40%. Some, like bond expert Jeffrey Gundlach, believe the chances are even higher—50% to 60%.

'Golden hour' of sleep: Experts reveal the best time to go to bed for a longer life
time you fall asleep is just as important as the amount of sleep you get? Experts now claim there’s a “golden hour” for bedtime that could significantly lower your risk of heart disease—and potentially help you live longer. A groundbreaking study published in the European Heart Journal investigated the link between sleep timing and heart health. Researchers monitored 88,000 UK Biobank participants aged 43 to 74 over a seven-year period. Using wrist monitors to track their sleep patterns, scientists found that people who fell asleep between 10:00 PM and 11:00 PM had the lowest risk of developing heart and circulatory diseases. However, for those who typically fell asleep between 11:00 PM and midnight, the risk of heart disease increased by 12%, while those who went to bed past midnight saw their risk spike by 25%.

Kunal Kamra row: Hansal Mehta says Kangana Ranaut did not face vandalism, actress schools him. 'You're insecure and mediocre'
‘The Buckingham Murders’ director took to X to express his support for the comedian. He flagged an abusive post that targeted Kamra. In response, an X user asked him why he did not stand up for Ranaut when her home was demolished in 2020, to which he retorted, “Was her house vandalised? Did goons enter her premises? Did they do this to challenge her freedom of expression or for alleged FSI violations? Please enlighten me. Maybe I don't know the facts." Ranaut, not to mince words, fired back. She stated how she was called slurs and her home was wrecked with bulldozers before the courts opened. She also claimed that people laughed at her ordeal and “raised a toast” to her public humiliation.

Rise of small brands in India: Just downtrading or something more?
Hindustan Unilever, Nestle and many home-grown giants. These small and regional players are growing faster than the biggies and even nibbling at their market shares. Latest data from market tracker Kantar shows that big companies, which control 34% of the market, saw sales volume increase 2-3% in urban areas over the past four quarters compared with year earlier periods, ET has reported. At the same time, smaller brands that account for the remaining almost two-thirds of the market for fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) grew 5-7%, said the research firm owned by British communications firm WPP. Kantar, which monitors both branded and unorganised products, including unpackaged voluminous commodities, defines big companies as those reaching more than a third of India’s 250 million households. Smaller companies with lower reach, some restricted to just a state, include new-age brands as well as local or regional ones.

2 top stock recommendations from Vinay Rajani
«I feel that overall trend is quite bullish. Yesterday we saw that Nifty took out the resistance of 100 and 200 days’ exponential moving average which was placed at 23,400. Now it is expected that the previous resistance will act as a support now. So, 23,400 is a strong base for the market. In case of correction, I believe that Nifty should find support there and bounce back again,» says Vinay Rajani, HDFC Securities. What is the outlook for the markets because till yesterday we had seen six consecutive days of gains. Do you believe that that is all that was there to this up-cycle rally that we have seen or do you believe that the bears are going to once again take charge and that was the end of the rally and now we are once again looking to continue the kind of correction that we were seeing until two weeks ago. Vinay Rajani: So, I do not expect this market to reverse on the downside. There could be a minor profit booking or running correction. But the way it has surpassed the resistances, the way it has behaved in this recent rally, we have seen almost 8% rise, 1900 points rise in the Nifty while Bank Nifty has risen more than 9% and Smallcap Index has risen more than 15%. So, this has been fairly strong rally after a long time. As Ansh mentioned that the RSI of the Nifty reached to 71, that has happened for the first time after September 2024 when Nifty was at all-time high.
