Chicken seekh kabab and soy milk are the most tried plant based meat and dairy products, shows GFI study
Chicken seekh kabab is the most tried plant-based meat product followed by popcorn chicken, chicken samosa and chicken biryani, while soy milk is the most tried plant-based dairy product, followed by almond milk and oat milk, found a study on consumer awareness about alternative proteins, carried out by the Good Food Institute India (GFI India). GFI India, the central expert organization and convening body in the alternative protein sector, in collaboration with Kantar World Panel, unveiled a new study on consumer awareness, trial, and purchase behavior for plant-based meat and dairy today. «Coinciding with the global phenomenon of Veganuary, which inspires millions to try plant-based diets every January, the report sheds light on the evolving landscape of consumer adoption of plant-based alternatives to meat and dairy. With 377 products spanning 41 formats and 73 brands, the sector has witnessed rapid growth over the past few years, presenting consumers with an array of choices in plant-based meat, dairy, and egg categories,» said GFI in a media release.

Ukraine’s War Effort Is Stuck. This Heroic Battlefield Failure Shows Why.
The planners of Ukraine’s counteroffensive against the country’s Russian invaders last year envisioned that elite forces, like the unit led by Capt. Anatoliy Kharchenko, would sweep in to deliver the final blows of a D-Day-like triumph. But by the time paratroopers in Kharchenko’s company entered the battle on a moonless night last August, the counteroffensive was already skidding toward failure—and his men were about to learn all of the deadly reasons why.

After raising Rs 7,200 crore in new project in 72 hours, what is DLF doing next? Ashok Tyagi answers
Ashok Tyagi, Whole Time Director, DLF, says” “It has only been a couple of quarters that we have now come in the positive cash surplus trajectory. We had a debt mountain which significantly we had reduced in 2017 with the GIC transaction, then to some degree with the QIP in 2019. And the rest is all done through operational flows. Future cash flows should hopefully be split across growth and dividend.” Tyagi further says: “At least two major launches are lined up in Gurgaon. One launch is lined up in Mumbai, which obviously is a small launch, of about Rs 2000 crore. One launch is lined up in Goa and one launch should hopefully be lined up in Chennai, the approvals are still in the final stages. There will be at least one small launch in the Tri-City of Chandigarh as well. I think we have the launch pipeline pretty well covered.” You have raised Rs 7,200 crore in your new project in less than 72 hours? Ashok Tyagi: That is correct. Is it true? Ashok Tyagi: It is true. We have made an official release also now. This was a project just off the southern periphery road in Gurgaon and it is a relatively newer geography for us. And we launched this project, Privana South with about 1100 odd apartments costing about Rs 7 crore each. And it is true that it all got sold in 72 hours.

Expect 20% earnings growth this quarter; will continue to drive markets: Ashish Gupta
Ashish Gupta, CIO, Axis Mutual Fund, says “both capex and real estate are sectors that are emerging after multi-years of down cycle. And therefore, the ROE recovery in many of these companies is very, very sharp. Some of this is priced in. I think some of this still has to play out. And we are actually still positive on this theme.” The script of how markets moved in 2023 was a function of liquidity, topping out of inflation and how the earning cycle picked up. What do you think will influence the script of 2024? Ashish Gupta: Firstly, a couple of big headwinds that were there at the start of last year are actually tailwinds for the market. So, whether we look at flows last year which were expected to be impacted by the rise in global rates, I think that has turned on its head. Similarly, commodity prices, in particular oil prices, were elevated and with increasing geopolitical risk that was a concern for the market and I think that also has turned into a big tailwind. While these tailwinds are there, some of the factors that drove the market last year are still very much present. We expect the Indian earnings trajectory to remain fairly robust. Even this quarter, we are expecting close to 20% earnings growth to be reported by corporate India and I think this will continue to be the primary driver of the markets.

At every rise, we want to raise more and more cash: Dipan Mehta
Dipan Mehta, Director, Elixir Equities, says “whenever we find that the performance is not up to our expectations, then we are trimming or exiting those positions and remaining in cash and that really has been my advice amongst the minority who feel that there should be a correction in 2024, all kinds of blue sky scenario notwithstanding. These markets cannot keep on going up like this.” UP has now become the go-to place when it comes to religious tourism. No one would have thought that this kind of a number would be there in terms of footfalls for Banaras and now for Ayodhya. Is that a theme which you are betting on? Dipan Mehta: We are very positive on travel and tourism and I have spoken about Indian Hotels and InterGlobal aviation also and then there is, of course, our favourite, with disclosures, Mahindra Holiday, which I think has performed below its potential. So, first of all, there are very few plays in this particular investment theme, but whatever is there,, has got great long-term prospects. These are great secular trends. You can see them compounding at 15% or thereabout for the next 5-10 years or so.
