Manorama Khedkar, mother of former probationary IAS officer Puja Khedkar, was granted bail by a Pune court in criminal intimidation case on Friday. The bail comes after Manorama completed 14 days in judicial custody after having served a four-day police custody. She was arrested from a lodge at Hirkaniwadi village near Mahad in Raigad district on July 18. Police had launched a search for Manorama and her husband, Dilip Khedkar, after a video surfaced showing her allegedly threatening some persons with a gun over a land dispute at Dhadwali village in Pune's Mulshi tehsil in 2023.

Titan Company on Friday reported a standalone net profit of Rs 770 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2024, which was down by nearly 1% over Rs 777 crore reported by the company in the year-ago period. Standalone revenue from operations stood at 11,263 crore, which was higher by 9.3% versus Rs 10,306 crore reported by the company in the corresponding quarter of the last financial year.

Delhi High Court has appointed an arbitrator to resolve the dispute between PVR INOX and Ansal Plaza Mall in Greater Noida. PVR INOX claims that its four-screen multiplex at Ansal Plaza Mall was sealed due to unpaid government dues by the lessor, Sheetal Ansal. PVR INOX has filed a claim of approximately Rs 4.5 crore in the Delhi High Court, seeking arbitration to address the issue. In an order passed by Justice C Hari Shankar, he said, «Prima facie, an arbitrable dispute has arisen between the parties, which is amenable to arbitration in terms of the arbitration clause extracted. As the parties have not been able to come to a consensus regarding the arbitrator to arbitrate on the disputes, this Court has to intervene. Accordingly, this Court appoints the arbitrator to arbitrate on the disputes between the parties. Court noted that the Counsel for Respondent/lessor also be permitted for counter-claim to be agitated in the arbitration proceedings.»

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zones (APSEZ) reported a 47% increase in quarterly consolidated net profit on Thursday, boosted by a one-time income from divesting a stake in a container terminal subsidiary. Net profit for the June quarter stood at ₹3,113 crore compared with ₹2,115 crore a year ago, the company said, adding that it completed the sale of a 49% equity stake in Adani Ennore Container Terminal, realising a gain of ₹603.27 crore.
