New Delhi: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Friday said that its intervetion led to the arrest of 23 accused persons in Rajasthan for allegedly selling girls, mostly minors on stamp papers for physical abuse and sexual assault in various parts of the country and abroad. The NHRC observed that given the registration of cases involving the selling of girls in some communities in the recent past, it appears that the practice is still continuing unabated. It has said that this practice requires to be curbed forthwith in totality and stringent steps be taken by all the stakeholders.

Bosch Global Software Technologies has leased 691,320 square feet of space in Bengaluru as it aims to expand its India operations. The property is located at Life Science Park in Electronic City. Bosch will be paying rental at a rate of approximately ₹58 per sq ft with a binding agreement for five years with a hard option to extend by another five years, according to a lease registration document accessed by ET. «The new facility will seat around 8,000 employees and house the KPO operation under Robert Bosch. The annual rent escalation is 5% and Bosch will occupy the ground plus 10 floors in the new facility that is expected to go live by the end of 2024,» said a person with knowledge of the matter.

State-owned REC Ltd on Friday said its board has approved raising the borrowing limit in foreign currency to USD 24 billion form USD 20 billion. The overall borrowing limit in Indian rupees was however retained at Rs 6 lakh crore, the company said in an exchange filing. The board of directors at its meeting held on Friday approved «proposal of retaining the overall borrowing limit of the company in INR at Rs 6,00,000 crore and increase the borrowing limit in any foreign currency equivalent from USD 20 billion to USD 24 billion...» The board also approved raising up to Rs 1,45,000 crore through private placement of unsecured/secured non-convertible bonds/debentures.

Aadhar Housing Finance plans a lower business growth of 20% in FY25, as the newly listed mortgage lender to the low-income group does not want to lose focus on asset quality. The lender expanded its assets under management (AUM) at 23% year-on-year to Rs 21,121 crore at the end of March, having an average loan size of Rs 10 lakh. «Given the consistent demand for home loans from the economically weaker section and lower income group, coupled with the fact that there is an existing huge shortfall in dwelling units, growth in retail home loans should not be a challenge,» managing director Rishi Anand told ET in an interview.

Congress spokesperson and media department chairperson Pawan Khera said the voters have cast their votes and their verdict has been secured. «The results will be out on 4th June. Prior to that, we do not see any reason to indulge in speculation and slugfest for TRP,» he said in a statement shared on X.

Delhi's Tis Hazari court on Friday sent Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's aide Bibhav Kumar to 14 days judicial custody in the Swati Maliwal assault case. Kumar was arrested on May 18 and sent to police custody for five days by a magisterial court, which observed that his anticipatory bail plea had become infructuous because of his arrest. The FIR against Kumar was registered on May 16 under various Indian Penal Code (IPC) provisions, including those related to criminal intimidation, assault or criminal force on a woman with the intent to disrobe, and attempt to commit culpable homicide.

Royal Orchid Hotels Limited has reported a total income of Rs 312.70 crore for financial year 2024, up from a total income of Rs 279.69 crore reported for financial year 2023. The chain posted a profit of Rs 50.82 crore for financial year 2024, up from Rs 49.22 crore in the previous fiscal year. On a quarterly basis, Royal Orchid Hotels posted a total income of Rs 82.30 crore in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2024, up from Rs 76.54 crore in corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal. The hotel chain posted a profit of Rs 16.69 crore in quarter four of financial year 2024, up from Rs 13.12 crore in quarter four of financial year 2023. The chain has a portfolio of over 107 hotels across more than 70 locations.

Tesla is recalling 125,227 vehicles in the United States due to a malfunction in its seat belt warning system that can increase the risk of injury in a collision, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said on Friday. The regulator said the vehicles failed to comply with the federal safety requirements as their seat belt warning light and audible chime may not get activated when the driver is unbelted. The recall affects certain 2012-2024 Model S, 2015-2024 Model X, 2017-2023 Model 3 and 2020-2023 Model Y vehicles.

Indian benchmark equity indices pared early gains and closed slightly higher on Friday, halting a 5-day losing streak amid caution ahead of the exit polls on Saturday and the Lok Sabha election results next week.
