NHAI prepays Rs 56,000 cr to its lenders in FY25 to save Rs 1,200 cr interest
National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has pre-paid loans of worth Rs 56,000 crore during the current fiscal, helping the state-owned agency to save interest cost of around Rs 1,200 crore, a senior government official said on Sunday. The official told PTI that NHAI's total debt at the beginning of the current fiscal year was pegged at Rs 3.35 lakh crore, which stood at about Rs 2.76 lakh crore at the end of third quarter of 2024-25 fiscal year.

Jharkhand govt suspends classes till grade 8 from Jan 7-13 due to cold wave
Jharkhand government announced that schools will remain closed for students from kindergarten to class 8 from January 7 to 13 due to the cold wave in the state. The School Education and Literacy Department, in a notification issued on Saturday evening, announced that the suspension of classes for students till grade 8 will be for all categories of schools, including government, aided, minority and private, in view of prevailing cold wave conditions in the state.

Hyundai Motor transports 26% domestic sales volume by rail freight in 2024
Hyundai Motor India has transported 1,56,724 units using rail freight in 2024, accounting for 26 per cent of the domestic wholesale volume made last year, the company said on Friday. Through this initiative, the company achieved a reduction of 18,352 tonne of carbon-di-oxide emission in 2024, by efficient utilisation of the rail network. The company, in 2024, also achieved one hundred per cent dispatch of its vehicles to the North-East region through rail freight.

Vodafone Idea has rolled out annual recharge plans for mobile phones, offering users unlimited data from midnight till noon, in an attempt to catch up with competition. The company in a statement shared that it has rolled out pre-paid plans priced at Rs 3,599, Rs 3,699 and Rs 3,799 that will offer unlimited data usage from 12 AM till 12 PM every day throughout the year and it will be in addition to the daily data usage limit at high speed.

Yes Bank clocks 12% loan growth in Q3
Yes Bank on Friday said it has posted a credit growth of 12.6 per cent at Rs 2.45 lakh crore for the December quarter. Total advances were Rs 2.17 lakh crore at the end of December 31, 2023, Yes Bank said in a regulatory filing. The lender reported a 14.6 per cent rise in total deposits to Rs 2.77 lakh crore as against Rs 2.41 lakh crore at the end of the third quarter of the previous financial year.
