Canada (IRCC) has extended a temporary public policy that exempts certain low-risk foreign nationals within Canada from needing an additional immigration medical examination (IME). The policy, which has been in place for two years, will now continue until October 5, 2029. This extension is designed to speed up application processing and enhance services for eligible applicants. The exemption applies to foreign nationals who have either a new or pending application for permanent or temporary residence or a permanent resident visa made from within Canada. To qualify, applicants must have completed an IME within the past five years, even if it has expired. They should have posed no public health or safety risk or have reported to public health authorities as required for monitoring. This policy has already benefited more than 286,000 individuals, enabling faster processing and reducing bureaucratic delays. By extending it, IRCC aims to continue improving operational efficiency while monitoring public health outcomes in partnership with the Public Health Agency of Canada. This also allows more time to assess the long-term effectiveness of the streamlined process.

We're investigating the numbers from which the calls arrived on Sept 30 and will take appropriate action. Type of call is also being looked into and we're trying to find out under what circumstances the teacher died.» In his police complaint, the teacher's husband, Shivcharan Verma, who worked as a deputy manager of a private firm in Agra and had retired three days ago, said, «She complained of anxiety and chest pain. Her health began to deteriorate rapidly. We took her to a hospital, where doctors declared her dead due to cardiac arrest.»

GAIL has signed a preliminary deal with AM Green to set up 2.5 GW of renewable projects jointly. The two companies will “undertake studies for long-term supply of around 350,000 tonnes per annum of CO2 generated by GAIL in its gas processing plants to produce e-Methanol,” the state-run gas marketer said in a statement. “GAIL shall also have an equity option to invest in the proposed e-Methanol project.” Companies will “jointly explore” setting up solar, wind or hybrid renewable projects up to 2.5 GW across India.

Punjab National Bank will be in focus today after the company announced its business update for the second quarter ended September 2024 on Thursday. The bank’s domestic business grew by 11% year-on-year (YoY) to Rs 24.30 lakh crore in the quarter that ended September 30, 2024, compared to Rs 21.82 lakh crore as of September 2023. Meanwhile, domestic deposits rose by 11% YoY to Rs 14.17 lakh crore in the said quarter, compared to Rs 12.77 lakh crore in the year-ago period. Tesla is recalling more than 27,000 Cybertrucks because the rearview camera image may not activate immediately after shifting into reverse, the fifth recall for the vehicle since it went on sale late last year. Tesla has released a free software upgrade to address the issue and owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 25. Cybertruck owners have had to deal with a series of recalls since the vehicle went on sale in November. In June, there was a recall to fix problems with trim pieces that can come loose and front windshield wipers that can fail. Two months before that, some Cybertrucks were recalled because the accelerator pedal could stick. In the most recent recall, the company notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that the display screens in effected trucks may remain blank for up to 8 seconds after a driver shifts to reverse. The US requires those screens to activate with a rearview within 2 seconds of shifting into reverse.

Avaada Group on Tuesday announced plans to invest Rs 1 lakh crore in Rajasthan in the renewable energy industry. The planned investment will fund major green energy initiatives, including a 1.2 GW-pumped hydro storage project, a 1 MTPA-green ammonia project, a 1 GW-wind power project, and a 10 GW-solar power project, the company said in a statement. These projects will come up across Jhalawar, Kota, Barmer, and Bikaner. These are expected to generate massive employment opportunities, promote green manufacturing, and significantly boost Rajasthan's contribution to India's renewable energy targets, Avaada Group said.
