DCP (Agra city) Suraj Rai told ToI on Friday, «The case under IT Act is being investigated in detail by police in Jagdishpura. They've interacted with the family of the teacher, Malti Verma. We're investigating the numbers from which the calls arrived on Sept 30 and will take appropriate action. Type of call is also being looked into and we're trying to find out under what circumstances the teacher died.»
In his police complaint, the teacher's husband, Shivcharan Verma, who worked as a deputy manager of a private firm in Agra and had retired three days ago, said, «She complained of anxiety and chest pain. Her health began to deteriorate rapidly. We took her to a hospital, where doctors declared her dead due to cardiac arrest.»
The teacher's son Deepanshu Rajput said, «My mother taught at a junior high school in Agra's Achhnera. On Sept 30, she first got a Whatsapp call at 12pm, in which they said my sister was caught in a sex scandal and began threatening her with consequences. The caller posed as a police inspector, and his profile picture showed him wearing a ‘khaki' uniform and a peaked cap.
