Tata Steel on Monday said Odisha would emerge as the company's single-largest investment destination after the phase-II expansion of its Kalinganagar plant from 3 million tonnes per annum to 8 mtpa. The steel major has invested Rs 27,000 in phase-II of the Kalinganagar plant expansion, and the company is on the verge of commissioning its expanded capacity at the unit, it said in a release. The ongoing expansion in Kalinganagar will play an important role in Tata Steel's ambition to achieve its target of 40 mtpa capacity in India by 2030, the company said. «The phase-II expansion of Tata Steel's Kalinganagar plant in Jajpur district of Odisha… will also catapult the eastern state to an enviable position of becoming the single-largest investment destination for the country's oldest steel maker,» the release said.

Phuntsok Wangyal, the current Chief Financial Officer, will relinquish his position in view of his resignation, effective on September 30, 2024, the company said in a stock exchange filing. According to the filing, the board in its meeting held on Saturday approved that Shah, presently serving as Deputy Chief Financial Officer at Adani Enterprises Limited, will assume the role of Chief Financial Officer of AGEL with effect from October 1, 2024. Assam government has announced the suspension of mobile internet services across the state on Sunday between 10 AM and 1:30 PM. There is a written examination for Class-III government posts. Narendra Modi will flag off the country's first 'Vande Metro' service on Monday during his two-day visit to Gujarat, an official said. The Ahmedabad-Bhuj Vande Metro is a fully unreserved air-conditioned train for which passengers can buy tickets from the counter shortly before its departure, Western Railway (Ahmedabad division) public relations officer Pradeep Sharma said on Saturday. «It will accommodate 2,058 standing and 1,150 sitting passengers. WR carried out a trial of the service early this week,» he added. According to WR officials, the Ahmedabad-Bhuj Vande Metro service will stop at nine stations and cover the 360 kilometre distance in 5 hours and 45 minutes at a top speed of 110 kilometres per hour. It will depart from Bhuj at 5:05am and reach Ahmedabad Junction at 10:50am, they said.

V-Sciences Investments, an arm of Temasek Holdings, on Friday divested a 1.4 per cent stake in Godrej Agrovet for more than Rs 212 crore through an open market transaction. Temasek Holdings is a state-owned multinational investment firm in Singapore. As of March 31, 2024, the investment company held an SGD 389 billion of portfolio value. Narendra Modi will issue sanction letters to a million beneficiaries of the rural housing scheme on September 17 and digitally transfer ₹ 3,180 crore as the first instalment for the construction of the houses, rural development and agriculture minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said on Friday. At a ceremony in Odisha on September 17, the PM will also unveil the 'Awas + 2024' app, Chouhan told media persons. The app is designed to help in the allotment of houses to intended beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G). Before that, the PM will distribute sanction letters to around 20,000 beneficiaries of Jharkhand on September 15. In this financial year, 113,195 houses are planned to be built in Jharkhand under the PMAY-G and ₹187.79 crore has been released for the purpose.
