FPIs invest Rs 11,000 cr in equities in 1st week of September
Foreign investors infused nearly ₹11,000 crore in domestic equities in the first week of the month owing to resilience of the Indian market and expectations of rate cut in the US. Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) have been consistently buying equities since June. Before that, they had pulled out funds to the tune of ₹34,252 crore in April-May.

Anti-drone systems eployed in Manipur
Assam Rifles has deployed anti-drone systems in the fringe areas of Imphal Valley in Manipur to repel any «rogue drones». CRPF, which is deployed in Manipur, has also tested an anti-drone system and «given it to the force deployed in the state». CRPF is in the process of deploying more anti-drone guns. Manipur Police has initiated the process of procurement of anti-drone guns to combat the attacks. Manipur CM N Biren Singh on Sunday urged the central government not to give in to the demand for a separate administration raised by Kuki Zo groups, said an official on condition of anonymity. The official added: «The chief minister made the appeal in a memorandum submitted to governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya. Singh also called for revoking the Suspension of Operations agreement.»

RBL Bank launches fuel credit card with IOCL
RBL Bank 'Xtra Credit Card' customers will be saving 8.5% on fuel purchases, the highest in the segment as compared to other co-branded fuel credit cards in the industry, said senior officials of Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL). RBL Bank, after its partnership with IOCL, is expecting its credit card portfolio to moderately grow by 12-15% during the current fiscal year, compared to the industry growth of 20-25%. The bank has a current market share of 5.04% of the total outstanding credit cards, according to data from the Reserve Bank of India.

Realty firm Signature Global has given ₹1,144 crore construction work order to Ahluwalia Contracts for development of its luxury housing project in Gurugram. The project, 'De-luxe DXP' is located in Sector 37D, Dwarka Expressway, Gurugram. Spread over 16.65 acres, the housing project has 1,008 units. The total developable area is 28.12 lakh square feet, Signature Global said in a statement on Sunday.

Chhattisgarh: 7 men dead, 3 injured in lightning strike in Balodabazar-Bhatapara
Chhattisgarh's Balodabazar-Bhatapara district on Sunday, officials said. The incident took place this evening in Mohtara village when the victims were working in a field, a district administration official said. «As per preliminary information, these persons gathered at the edge of a pond near their field amid heavy rainfall when lightning struck. The deceased were identified as Mukesh (20), Tankar Sahu (30), Santosh Sahu (40), Thaneshwar Sahu (18), Pokhraj Vishwakarma (38), Dev Das (22) and Vijay Sahu (23),» he said.

BJP leader Sudhanshu Trivedi on Sunday slammed the Trinamool Congress after one of the MPs of the Mamata Banerjee-led party said the West Bengal government's handling of the rape and murder of the doctor at RG Kar hospital was «too little and quite late». TMC MP Jawhar Sircar, in his letter to West Bengal CM Banerjee, said he has decided to quit Rajya Sabha and leave politics altogether, adding he became increasingly «disillusioned» with the state government as it seemed «quite unconcerned» about corruption and «strong-arm tactics» of a section of leaders. Referring to the protests over the rape and murder of the doctor, Sircar said the «spontaneous outpouring of public anger» is against this unchecked overbearing attitude of the «favoured few and the corrupt».

NIIF gets CCI's clearance to acquire additional stake in Ather Energy
Competition Commission of India has approved the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund's (NIIF) proposal to acquire an additional stake in Ather Energy. The deal was cleared by the competition watchdog under the green channel route. «The acquirer (India-Japan Fund) proposes to acquire certain Series G Compulsorily Convertible Preference Shares of Ather,» the regulator said in an order. India-Japan Fund (IJF) is a fund managed by NIIF. The fund focuses on investing in environmental sustainability, and low-carbon emission strategies and promoting investments by Japanese companies in India.

Four workers killed, one injured after hopper collapses at alumina refinery in Chhattisgarh
coal collapsed on them at an alumina refinery in Chhattisgarh's Surguja district on Sunday, police said. The incident occurred around 11 am at Maa Kudargarhi Alumina Refinery in Silsila village under the Raghunathpur police chowki, an official said. The Army celebrated his centennial birthday on Saturday at his home in Himachal Pradesh, marking a century of extraordinary life and service. Born on September 7, 1924, Singh's journey with the Army began on August 26, 1942, at Firozepur Cantonment, when he got enrolled in the Indian Army, a senior official said on Sunday. His distinguished military career saw him serve with the Army Service Corps during the World War II. His service took him from Singapore to Lahore and eventually to Yol Cantonment in Himachal Pradesh, he said.
