skills training to 0.34 million candidates out of the 0.66 million enrolled under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) 4.0 even as the scheme awaits cabinet approval, taking the total number of trained candidates under the scheme to 14 million since its launch in 2015.
"PMKVY 4.0 (FY 2023-26) was announced in the Union Budget 2023-24 with an aim to skill lakhs of youth and provide training in courses on Industry 4.0, AI, robotics, mechatronics, IoT and drones," the ministry said in its year-end review on Tuesday.
«PMKVY 4.0 has received the approval of the expenditure finance committee (EFC) and the same has been submitted for the approval of the cabinet. However, the department of expenditure, ministry of finance, has granted approval for the release of funds under PMKVY 4.0 based on the EFC memorandum with the condition of early approval of the scheme from the cabinet,» it said.
According to the skills development ministry, a total of 662,750 candidates have been enrolled until December 13, 2023, of which 342,500 have completed their training.
