Reports indicate that the family placed an order for a cake through Zomato on March 24th. Tragically, shortly after consuming the cake, the young girl, along with several other family members, fell severely ill. Despite efforts, the girl succumbed to the illness later on.
In response to the incident, Zomato extended their condolences to the family and swiftly took action against the associated restaurant. A company spokesperson conveyed, «We are deeply saddened by the recent incident in Patiala. We have immediately delisted the restaurant and barred the owner from operating on our platform. We are cooperating fully with law enforcement officials in their investigation.»
The girl's grandfather shed light on the order, pointing out discrepancies. «The cake was ordered online around 6 pm,» he recounted. «By 11 pm, everyone who ate the cake was sick. We lost our granddaughter, while the others thankfully recovered.»
Following a complaint from the family, the police have initiated an investigation into the matter, suspecting food poisoning as the likely cause. An alarming revelation emerged as the registered address for the bakery, named «Cake Kanha,» did not align with the actual location. Furthermore, discrepancies in billing suggest the possibility that the order originated from a different city altogether.
