2023 Diana Awards: Prince Harry, Prince William appear at same event for the first time after King Charles' coronation
Prince Harry and his elder brother Prince William came together for a charity in honor of their mother. The two royals made an appearance at the 2023 Diana Awards held on Friday, June 30, 2023. The event honored the young who are working towards making the world a better place.
Prince William spoke via a pre-recorded clip that aired at the beginning of the Diana Awards. The event was streamed on YouTube. William praised the recipient of the 2021 Diana and Legacy Award, Hannah Hodgson, and the other awardees for the «challenges they have overcome to get here».
«To everyone watching, these stories remind us why organizations like The Diana Award are so important,» he said, adding that it serves as a reminder that «when we invest in young people, when we provide them with the tools and opportunities to make a difference, they can truly change the world». He added that this was a «belief shared by my mother, and one I am proud to continue in her name». Prince Harry spoke via a separately pre-recorded clip, alongside Vee Kativhu, the 2021 Diana and Legacy Award recipient.
«When someone steps up to be of service, they automatically join this collective. No one is ever a conduit for change alone. Each one of us has the ability to help create a more equitable world,» said Harry in the video.
«The brilliant award recipients we’re honoring today are proof of that. They exemplify the notion that when we use our voices, change can happen.» Prince William and Prince Harry recently reunited at the coronation of their father, King Charles III, on May 6, 2023. Following the coronation ceremony, the royal family appeared on the balcony at Buckingham Palace, as Charles greeted his subjects.
