cancer patient!
A five-year-old toddler named Anusuya Ghosh has won hearts across the country for gifting her hair to a cancer survivor who became bald from prolonged chemotherapy and radiotherapy at the Nagpur National Cancer Institute in Maharashtra.
Anusuya’s parents, who are residents of Tripura, were prompt to respond to an online advertisement shared by an NGO, requesting citizens to donate hair to cancer patients. The social media post shared the story of Sanghamitra Shaligram who is undergoing treatment at the Nagpur Cancer Institute for hair transplant.
Working alongside Anusuya’s mother Sima Chakma, a team shaved off her mane of hair and sent it to Sanghamitra on September 24.
In an interview with theTimes Of India, Chakma said she hoped this gesture would bring others to be more proactive in helping to alleviate the pain of cancer survivors. She also added that had she not come across the ad, the mane of hair would have ended up in the dustbin. “Had we not known the importance of hair, we definitely would have shaved Anusuya’s head and dumped the hair as is the common practise across the globe,” she told the news portal.
This ultimately proves, that nothing, not even shaven hair is disposable! Under the right circumstances, anything can become an asset that can be recycled for a purpose.
