Atlys on Wednesday said it has raised $12 million in a Series A funding round led by Elevation Capital and Peak XV Partners, formerly Sequoia Capital India.
The round also saw participation from existing investors Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), musical duo Chainsmokers, South Park Commons, Pinterest Founders, among other investors, as per a statement.
The funds raised will be used to expand the platform’s product offerings for travellers, attract customers and further strengthen the team through talent acquisition, the statement added. The San Francisco, California-headquartered startup had previously raised a $5 million seed round in 2021.
Atlys helps its users among travellers apply for visas through its digital platform from anywhere in the world to get their visas on time. Founder Mohak Nahta started up after having found the visa process to be tedious, uncertain and not traveller-friendly.
Nahta told ET that the tailwind that Atlys rides on is how over 60% of countries have moved to the e-visa system and how over the next five years, almost every country that Indians travel to will be on e-visas.
Prior to Atlys, Nahta worked at Pinterest in San Francisco for about four years as an engineer, his first job right after graduation from Carnegie Mellon University's Bachelor of Science undergraduate programme.
