Matthew Perry's death, his former girlfriend Julia Roberts has mourned the actor's loss.
In an interview with 'Entertainment Tonight,' the actress — who dated Perry for about three months in the early 1990s — reflected on the demise of 'Chandler' from the popular sitcom, 'Friends'.
The 54-year-old Perry was found unresponsive in his hot tub on October 30 at his Pacific Palisades home in Los Angeles.
His cause of death remains «deferred» after an initial postmortem showed no signs of meth or fentanyl in his system.
«The sudden passing of anybody so young is heartbreaking,» Roberts said while speaking on the show. «I think that, you know, it just helps all of us just appreciate what we have and to keep going in a positive way as best we can.»
The two got together as a couple around the time Roberts appeared as a guest star on 'Friends' where she co-starred as a former classmate of Perry’s character, Chandler. The 56-year-old Roberts also told 'ET' that while filming the show, she had «all good thoughts and feelings» about her time on the 'Friends' set.
In his 2022 memoir, 'Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing', Perry had had spoken about his life-long struggle with alcohol and drug addiction. He also wrote about his brief romance with the 'Pretty Woman' actress.
«I sent her three dozen red roses and the card read: 'The only thing more exciting than the prospect of you doing the show is that I finally have an excuse to send you flowers,'» he shared in his book. Roberts, he wrote, seemed as if she «was placed on this planet to make the world smile, and now, in particular, me. I was grinning like some 15-year-old on his first date.»
The funeral for Perry was conducted on November 3 in Los Angeles.
