Angelina Jolie has plans to leave the tinsel town for good and retire from lights, camera & action altogether.
In an interview with theWall Street Journal, the ‘Lara Croft’ star said that she would have opted for the stage instead of becoming a Hollywood star, had she started her career in 2023.
She also revealed that she has plans to eventually shift base from Los Angeles and spend more time in her home in Cambodia.
“I wouldn’t be an actress today,” said the ‘Mr & Mrs Smith’ actress. “When I was starting out, it wasn’t as much of an expectation to be as public, to share so much,” she told the magazine.
She also admitted that her very public divorce with ‘Mr & Mrs Smith’ and ‘By The Sea’ co-star Brad Pitt seven years ago, and the constant media scrutiny she underwent took a toll on her mental health. It also ended up with a string of health problems.
“My body reacts very strongly to stress,” Jolie said. “My blood sugar goes up and down. I suddenly had Bell’s palsy six months before my divorce,” she was quoted as saying.
She also revealed that she has plans to eventually shift base from Los Angeles and spend more time in her home in Cambodia.
“I grew up in quite a shallow place. Of all the places in the world, Hollywood is not a healthy place.
So you seek authenticity,” she admitted toWSJ.
Jolie had gradually reduced her projects after the 2014 blockbuster ‘Maleficent’ and the 2015 box-office disaster ‘By The Sea’ (which coincidentally, was her last movie with ex-husband Pitt). In the next eight years, she appeared in just two movies ‘Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil’ (2019) and ‘Those Who Wish Me Dead’ (2021) in the lead.
