Elon Musk closed a $44 billion deal to take over Twitter, after trying to pull out in between but facing a lawsuit. Since then, the microblogging platform, which has been rechristened X, has been on a roller-coaster ride, with few ups and lots of downs, losing money, advertisers and trust.
To mark the one-year anniversary, X chief executive Linda Yaccarino penned a lengthy, glass-half-full blog about the platform under its new ownership and management.
Yaccarino said she is “incredibly proud” of the work her team has been doing to accelerate the future of X.
Sharing a progress report, she claimed that X is working to consistently enforce rules in areas such as hate speech, platform manipulation, child safety, impersonation, civic integrity and more.

“We also remain committed to privacy and data protection,” she added.
The chief executive said that X reports over 7.8 billion active minutes per day, driven by “growth in our video and community products”.
“Today, the average user spends more than 32 minutes of their day on X,” she said, adding that the platform sees sign-ups average around 1.5 million per day.
On misleading and inaccurate information on the platform, Yaccarino said that Community Notes, which allows users to add context to potentially misleading posts, has over 1,00,000 contributors in 44 countries and growing.
