Abhishek Banerjee on Saturday gave a clarion call to all political parties and people to stand by the «deprived» people of Bengal, who allegedly did not receive their dues in MGNREGA and other schemes, and urged all to participate in the movement in New Delhi on October 2 and 3. He also claimed that the BJP government at the Centre will be ousted in the coming days and asserted that Bengal will give a befitting reply in coming days as it has given reply in 2021.
«It is not a political programme but a fight for the deprived job card holders and all should join,» Banerjee said, adding «the autocratic central government will fall from power.» The job card holders and Trinamool supporters were taken by buses to New Delhi after a special train was reportedly cancelled.
Trinamool will organize a peaceful sit-in protest on October 2 at Rajghat and on October 3, a protest movement will be organized at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, Banerjee announced. All the party leaders, MLAs and MPs will participate in the two-day protest programme.
Simultaneously, Panchayat Pradhans and Anchal Presidents will convene Gandhi Gram Sabhas and broadcast live feeds of the Delhi events for public viewing in Bengal.
«Since December 2021, BJP stopped our rightful dues, wherein they owe us nearly Rs 7,000 crore under MGNREGA and Rs 8,200 crore under Awas Yojana.
Under this, nearly Rs 3,000 crore meant solely for the wages of our MGNREGA labourers have been withheld,»AITC said in a statement.
«Under Awas Yojana, 11.36 lakh eligible beneficiaries are deprived of their rights. Apart from this, around 34 lakh beneficiaries are still on the waiting list...They [BJP] keep talking about corruption and discrepancies.
