National Stock Exchange of India Ltd (NSE India) has appointed Amber Gupta as senior vice president and head of legal.
An alumnus of the University of Lucknow and also a member of the Institute of the Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), Gupta was head of corporate legal, company secretary and compliance officer at the Aditya Birla Capital before joining the stock exchange.
About two and a half-decade veteran, Gupta also worked with Aditya Birla Sun Life Insurance, Aditya Birla Money, JP Morgan, Yes Bank, Reliance Capital and Sahara India Financial Corporation.

“Amber is a very pragmatic but detail-oriented person, who can look at things at very macro and micro level at the same time,” said a managing partner of a Mumbai-based law firm who has worked with him in the past. “Also, he is completely a team member which makes it easier for even the junior most people in his team to put their point forward while dealing with any situation.”
The development is coming at a time when several companies in the capital markets, and banking and finance firms are ramping up their legal and compliance teams to be able to more agile in the ever-evolving regulatory environment.
Recently in April, Yukti Sharma joined Kinara Capital as vice president and general counsel from Piramal Capital &
