Vidhan Sabha building in Uttar Pradesh took a significant step forward as senior officials have reportedly delivered a presentation on the project to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday.
According to sources quoted by TOI, discussions during the presentation included the exploration of three potential sites for this project, and an official announcement regarding the chosen location is expected to be made by the Chief Minister soon. Officials are actively scouting for a suitable land parcel, covering an extensive area of about 200 acres within the city.
Among the proposed locations, one option is a 160-acre site near Chak Gajaria farms on Sultanpur Road, previously identified during the Samajwadi Party's administration, and previously considered in 2019.
Another potential site under consideration is the area currently occupied by the DGP headquarters and the Lucknow Zoo in Narhi, pending the zoo's relocation to the Kukrail Forest Reserve following a UP Cabinet decision in 2022.
The forest department has disclosed that this move could occur within the next two years. Lastly, the expansion of the new Lok Bhawan building to incorporate Darul Shafa is also being explored as a third possibility.
Sources who attended the meeting confirmed that an extensive presentation was made to the Chief Minister on Sunday, encompassing various options for the building's location, drawing inspiration from the design of the new Parliament building in Delhi.
