Abu Dhabi and Jhajjar, flexibility in existing courses and overall wellness of students are the top focus areas for Indian Institute of Technology Delhi for next year, director Rangan Banerjee told ET. The revision in curriculum will see inclusion of sustainability and communication skills which would most likely have credits as part of the existing courses. «We are still deciding how to incorporate these relevant subjects,» Banerjee said on the sidelines of a pre-convocation press briefing.
To make the courses more industry relevant, the institute will engage industry and alumni to decide the changes in the existing curriculum which will be rolled out from the next academic year. The Abu Dhabi campus will be operational by next year and will have a mix of foreigners and Indians as faculty.IIT Delhi’s 54th annual convocation ceremony will be held this Saturday in which more than 2,350 graduating undergraduate and post-graduate students would be awarded degrees. This lot will also have graduates of the first batch of M.Tech in electric mobility, interdisciplinary M.Tech in cybersecurity, master’s in public policy, M.Sc in Research in materials science and engineering and joint PhD programme with the University of Queensland, Australia.
A temporary campus for IIT Delhi-Abu Dhabi is already assigned. It is likely that the UAE government will fund the campus which will offer degrees at the UG, PG and doctoral levels.
