Last week, the party had announced the list of returning officers for conducting the election of state presidents in 29 states.
In UP, Union minister Piyush Goyal has been appointed as the returning officer. Sources told ET that the new UP BJP president will be elected by January 20 after the completion of all the requirements. At present, the election of district presidents is going on in the state. The party will replace the current president Bhupendra Choudhary who took charge in August 2022.
In Bihar, the party recently appointed state minister Dilip Jaiswal as party chief, replacing Samrat Choudhary who is the deputy CM of the state. Party sources told ET that Jaiswal is likely to be continued as party president in Bihar. There is also a Cabinet reshuffle on the cards in Bihar where the party may replace some of the existing ministers with new entrants.
There will be delays in the election of presidents in Haryana, Maharashtra, West Bengal and Delhi.
