Air India is set to give its crew a fresh new look as it prepares to welcome its first wide-body A350 aircraft this year, according to sources. This development coincides with the airline's ongoing rebranding efforts and the merger of Vistara into its operations.
Details regarding the new crew uniforms are still under discussion, as insiders are actively involved in the planning process.
Notably, renowned designer Manish Malhotra has been enlisted to contribute to the new uniform designs, as one source revealed.
The introduction of these new uniforms is anticipated to align with the induction of the A350 aircraft later this year. However, specific details remain undisclosed at this time.
When approached for a statement, Air India did not provide an official comment.
The airline previously updated its crew uniforms in 2015 during its tenure under government control.
The financially challenged Air India is diligently working on an ambitious transformation plan. Recently, the Tata Group-owned airline unveiled a fresh brand identity called 'The Vista,' inspired by the symbolism of «limitless possibilities» represented by the peak of a golden window frame, along with a new aircraft livery.
Earlier this year, Air India made substantial aircraft orders, totaling 470 units, from both Airbus and Boeing.
As part of its aviation sector consolidation, the Tata Group is orchestrating mergers within its airline businesses.
AIX Connect is in the process of merging with Air India Express, while Vistara is set to amalgamate with Air India. Currently, Tata Group holds a 51 percent stake in Vistara, with the remaining shares belonging to Singapore Airlines.
