Aishwarya Rai Bachchan appeared sans makeup in this '90s blockbuster. Director reveals, 'Wanted to show her divine, natural beauty'
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan did not hesitate to ditch the makeup when she shot for the 1999 blockbuster ‘Taal’.
In a recent interview, director Subhash Ghai said that he had always emphasised on showcasing the natural beauty of his leading ladies and insisted his heroines don a minimal amount of makeup.
“I always request my heroines to limit their use of makeup as it brings out real emotions. The first time Aishwarya applied makeup in Taal was during the shoot of the song Kahin Aag Lage Lag Jaaye. When I cast Aishwarya for the role, I wanted to portray the life of a simple and divine girl who was naturally beautiful,” the veteran filmmaker explained.
He further revealed that although renowned makeup artist Mickey Contractor was brought on board for the film, he was specifically instructed to refrain from applying any cosmetics on Aishwarya Rai. Enthralled by this intriguing detail about the movie, admirers swiftly took to the comments section to express their astonishment and deep appreciation for Aishwarya’s ‘innate elegance.’ One commenter remarked, “Every woman possesses beauty even without makeup,” while another stated, “There exists only one woman who appears breathtakingly gorgeous without any cosmetic enhancement.”
