Akasa Air, India’s youngest airline, is on an expansion spree. The airline has commenced operations to Riyadh, the capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Now, Akasa will operate daily flight operations between Mumbai and Ridyadh, the airline said in a statement. As per the company, the inaugural flight on June 15, 2024 departed from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai.
With this, the company aims to strengthen the airline’s presence in the region, providing reliable, affordable, and enhanced options for air travel on the route. The maiden flight was flagged off by Praveen Iyer, Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer of Akasa Air.
Talking about the destination launch, Neelu Khatri, Co-Founder and SVP International, Akasa Air, said “We are pleased to commence operations from Riyadh, our third international destination on our growing international network. The Government of Saudi Arabia’s forward-looking strategy to enhance the nation’s global air connectivity will further bolster air travel demand to and from the region in the coming years.”
Akasa Air forayed into international skies with the launch of operations to Doha, the capital of Qatar, on March 28, 2024. In May 2024, the airline announced operations from Jeddah.
