Many creators are making videos on this song, each one beginning with the popular lines of the song “You’re so funny’ before putting forth their confession about their mental health problems like ‘thanks, I’ve been medicated since the seventh grade’ and ‘thanks! I have anger issues’. Videos addressing various issues like domestic violence and childhood trauma ignited a conversation on humor being helpful in connecting youth with their elders and peers on issues like these.
The trend also shows the mental health struggles of younger people. Social media users share content about various problems of theirs on growing up sexually closeted and relationships and traumas and growing up with divorced or separated parents. While some users shared their experiences with being cheated on in a romantic relationship, crippling anxiety, eating disorders, obesity, others shared about suicidal tendencies, grief over losing loved ones and career.
