Taylor Swift is laughing all the way to the bank… just from Spotify streams!
According to ‘Wrapped’, an end-of-the-year report released by the streaming giant, the ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ hitmaker is the most-streamed artist in 2023, with a whopping 26.1 billion streams globally!
Artistes can earn $0.0035 cents per stream. The 12-time Grammy winners' earnings crossed $91 million in November alone. By the end of December, she would have crossed $130 million in earnings.
While Spotify is undoubtedly the largest streaming service, it is far from the only one. According to a Billboard report, the ‘Cruel Summer’ crooner’s streaming earnings (from all streaming platforms) could be a staggering $200 million!
According to Spotify’s ‘Wrapped’ list, the ‘Lover’ hitmaker emerged as the most streamed artiste in 2023. This was probably a result of the phenomenal success of her 2022 album ‘Midnights’ as well as the spectacular performance of the re-recordings of two of her old hit songs — ‘1989’ and ‘Speak Now’. ‘1989’ was a runaway hit on Spotify, crossing 375.49 streams in its first week.
Other big earners include Bad Bunny (who was crowned the most streamed artist by Spotify in 2022, with 18.5 billion streams), Drake, The Weeknd and Peso Puma.
Although the Weeknd did not release any song this year, he remained a big earner in 2023, thanks to the 2016 love song ‘Die For You’, which emerged as a late-blooming hit.
