Allianz GI announced the departures in October, prompting key changes to the management of funds such as the €4.5bn Allianz Europe Equity Growth strategy, but the destination of the managers was unknown at the time.
GI global equity growth CIO to exit alongside four portfolio managers
The five portfolio managers will join AllianceBernstein in January 2024, including Thorsten Winkelmann, who will lead the team.
Winkelmann is a portfolio manager and was global growth equity CIO at Allianz GI. He brings with him nearly 25 years' experience, including a focus on European growth and global growth equity strategies.
The four other portfolio managers joining his team are Robert Hofmann, Marcus Morris-Eyton, Darina Valkova and Nicolas Gonçalves. Together they have significant industry knowledge, having previously run the Allianz GI European growth strategies.
