Amazon Appstore, launched 14 years ago, will be discontinued later this year. The e-commerce giant has also announced plans to wind down its digital currency programme, Amazon Coins.

But the app store will remain functional on Amazon’s own devices, including tablets and streaming devices.
A new FAQ page on Amazon’s website states that the Amazon Appstore will no longer be available on Android devices from August 20, 2025. Amazon also mentioned that apps downloaded from the store may not work on Android phones after this date.
The app store was first launched on Android in March 2011.
This means users will no longer be able to download the Amazon Appstore on Android phones or tablets after August 20, 2025. Any active subscriptions with auto-renewals should be cancelled.
