Conflicting Altitude Data Sparks Investigation
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), which is investigating the crash, disclosed that altitude data from the flight recorder of the American Airlines jet indicated an altitude of 325 feet (99 meters), with a margin of error of plus or minus 25 feet (7.6 meters).
In contrast, the control tower’s data reported the Army Black Hawk helicopter at 200 feet (61 meters) at the time of the crash.
