Sandeep Reddy Vanga & Ranbir Kapoor seems to have worked wonders at the box-office!
‘Animal’ has performed spectacularly well at the box-office. As per a report by the Indian box-office tracking portal Sacnilk.com, the action drama earned a staggering Rs 61 crore on its opening day.
On the second day, the movie collected Rs 2.94 crore (and counting), thereby taking the total earnings to an impressive Rs 63.94 crore.
This magnificent opening day figure puts ‘Animal’ as the second -biggest opener of 2023, right behind Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Jawan’ which collected Rs 75 crore on day one.
‘Animal’ also marks the biggest first-day earnings for an A-rated (adult rated) film in India. It is also the biggest opener in Kapoor’s career, surpassing the Rajkumar Hirani directorial ‘Sanju’ which opened to Rs 34.75 crore.
Overseas too, the movie is shattering all box-office records. According to trade analyst Ramesh Bala the movie collected Rs 110-115 crore on the opening day overseas. In the US, it collected $2.5 million on day one.
Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, ‘Animal’ is an unapologetically violence and gory family drama. It explores a one-sided obsessive love of Ranvijay Singh, the scion of a steel empire towards his emotionally distant father Balbir Singh.
Aside from Ranbir Kapoor, the film also stars Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna and Bobby Deol in pivotal roles.
According to a report by Sacnilk.com, the Vicky Kaushal-starrer collected Rs 5.5 crore on day one.
However, WOM (word-of-mouth) as well as critical reviews has been encouraging, so the Meghna Gulzar film may improve at the box-office in the coming days.
