Regarded as one of the most intense and acclaimed military dramas in the 21st century, The Hurt Locker won an Oscar for Best Picture in 2010. Released in 2009, the movie is famous for its gripping depiction of Iraq and realistic view of it. Mackie’s fans believe his performance should have received an Academy Award, the Mirror reports.
The film follows the journey of Sergeant William James, played by Jeremy Renner, as he takes over a US Army bomb disposal unit, where his reckless and unorthodox methods create tension with his team, particularly with Sergeant JT Sandborn (Anthony Mackie).

Reportedly, upon its release, The Hurt Locker became a sensation both critically and during the awards season, amassing nine nominations for the Academy Award.
