The fact that states and UTs like Delhi, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka, Himachal and, most recently, Jharkhand have EVMs that are completely unaffected by suspected poltergeist activity adds to the mystery.
Some people like Mallikarjun Kharge, Sharad Pawar and Mayawati, have a rational bent of mind. They believe that EVM anomalies are not the product of ghosts in the machine, but of human tampering. They have demanded that the ballot paper — their metric of reliability from the good old 80s-90s when voters chose 'better' than they do today, except in states where they continue to choose correctly — be brought back.
Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), also known by psepho-psychotherapists as Sore Losers (SL), have planned a nationwide protest against the credibility of EVMs. Being a conglomeration of Indian National Congress, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray), and Nationalist Congress Party-Sharadchandra Pawar, MVA seems to have little concern that in states like Jharkhand, which went to polls with Maharashtra this month, EVMs have been functioning just swell.
