However, this time, backed by his power in both, the Senate and the House, Trump will be looking at opening the federal purse and writing a check to Denmark, who is the current territorial owners of the island.
Trump had first indicated an intention to buy Greenland back in 2019, during his first term as president, but this week he stepped things up a notch, and even refused to rule out economic or military force to take control of the island.
The reason for Trump's obsession with Greenland is still unknown but it falls in line with Trump's political policies from his first term. He currently does not mind writing a whopping check to the Denmark administration in return for the island. It is yet to be seen if he is successful in gaining control of the island in his second term.
