The feud between Grover and Mittal dates back to their time together on Shark Tank India, where their contrasting personalities were often evident. Grover, known for his blunt and straightforward approach, has frequently expressed his frustration with Mittal's business style. He has now opened up about his early attempts to raise money from Mittal, revealing how the process left him feeling disillusioned and unfulfilled.
During a recent panel discussion, Grover shared the story of trying to secure funding for his startup, BharatPe, from Anupam Mittal. Grover described how Mittal led him around in circles, offering plenty of advice but little in the way of tangible financial support. “I once went to Anupam Mittal to raise money. He would make me go around in circles and not give me a single penny. He still doesn’t give anybody anything. He only gives ‘gyaan’, not money,” Grover stated.
Grover recounted the numerous meetings, describing how he would wait at a cafe under Mittal’s office, where a dosa vendor operated, hoping for a chance to pitch his idea. “I gave him a QR code, and that became my biggest achievement while trying to meet Anupam Mittal. Whenever that dosa guy’s QR would stop working, he’d directly call me. He was probably one of the first 10 people to have one of our QR codes,” Grover recalled, painting a vivid picture of his frustration.
This isn’t the first time Grover has publicly critiqued Mittal.
