Ashok Chavan has held various positions within the party, including General Secretary of the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee. Ashok Chavan's wife, Ameeta Chavan, is currently the member of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from Bhokar constituency which has previously been represented by both Shankarrao Chavan and Ashok Chavan himself.
