Assam government on Thursday organised Griha Pravesh (home entrance) ceremony for 3 lakh people of the Prime Minister Awas Yojana (Grameen). The government announced another 6 Lakh Houses Construction to be Complete by February 2024. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday attended the «griha pravesh» ceremony organised by the Government of Assam's Panchayat & Rural Development Department for as many as three lakh beneficiaries of the Prime Minister Awas Yojana (Grameen).
Sarma said the State government has been taking all measures necessary to give shape to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of ensuring housing for all by 2024. In this regard, the Government of Assam has been implementing the provisions of PMAY(Grameen) in letter and spirit, the Chief Minister said.
With the aim of ensuring a pucca house equipped with all the basic amenities for all eligible beneficiaries in the rural areas, the Panchayat & Rural Development Department of Assam has been working relentlessly in efficient and time-bound implementation of PMAY (Grameen) scheme, the Chief Minister stated, adding beneficiaries are being provided an amount of Rs 1.30 lakh each in three instalments through their bank accounts as per the provisions of the scheme. Stating that a total of 19,10,823 houses have been approved under the scheme beneficiaries for which were selected on the basis of socio-economic caste census (SECC) and Awas, the Chief Minister said a total of 12,43,584 houses have already been constructed.
